Getting to Wembley Stadium: Tube, Trains and Matchday Rules

Spain came from behind to beat England 3-2 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 26 September, in the opening match of their 2026-27 UEFA Nations League group. Lamine Yamal scored in the second minute, Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane put England ahead before half-time, and Alex Baena and Mikel Oyarzabal turned the game around after the break. Kane also slipped taking a penalty and sent it against the crossbar. If the match has you thinking about seeing a game at Wembley yourself, here is what is coming up, how to get there and the rules worth knowing before you go.

What Is On at Wembley This Fall

England’s next home match is against Czechia in the Nations League on Tuesday, 6 October, at 19:45 UK time. The stadium lists tickets from £35 to £120, with family enclosure seats at £25 for adults and £12.50 for children under 16. Before that, England play away in Czechia on 29 September and in Croatia on 3 October.

For American visitors, the bigger date may be Sunday, 18 October, when the Jacksonville Jaguars face the Houston Texans at Wembley. The NFL notes that ticketing for that game is managed by the Jaguars directly. Watch the venue when you book: the other two 2026 London games, the Colts against the Commanders on 4 October and the Eagles against the Jaguars on 11 October, are at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, a different stadium in another part of north London.

Wembley has already hosted American college football this month: Arizona State and Kansas played the Union Jack Classic there on 19 September.

Getting to Wembley by Tube and Train

Wembley is in north-west London, well outside the center, and the stadium’s own travel page points to three stations. All three have step-free access into the station, although at Wembley Central there is no step-free access between the platform and the train.

  • Wembley Park: on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, and only two stops from Baker Street on the Metropolitan line. From the station, Olympic Way leads straight toward the stadium.
  • Wembley Stadium station: one stop from London Marylebone on Chiltern Railways, about 740 meters from the stadium. Take the lifts to street level, turn right and cross the White Horse Bridge.
  • Wembley Central: on the Bakerloo line and the London Overground line between Watford Junction and Euston.

You can pay for the Tube with a contactless card instead of buying a ticket. Transport for London says many contactless cards issued outside the UK work for pay-as-you-go travel, although your bank may add overseas charges, so check with your card issuer before you fly. Use the same card or phone to touch in and out, or you may be charged the wrong fare.

Buses, Coaches, Cars and Taxis

  • Buses: routes 18/N18, 83/N83, 92, 182, 206, 223, 297 and 483 serve the area.
  • Coaches: National Express, the stadium’s official coach provider, runs direct event services from more than 55 places around the UK.
  • Driving: parking has to be booked in advance through the stadium’s official parking, and vehicles that do not meet London’s emissions standards pay the ULEZ charge of £12.50 a day. If you are staying in central London, the train is simpler.
  • Taxis: licensed cabs only, from the rank on Engineers Way next to the arena.

The Bag Rule That Catches Visitors Out

Wembley allows one small bag per person, no bigger than A4: 297 mm high, 210 mm wide and 210 mm deep, or about 11.7 by 8.3 by 8.3 inches. Anyone carrying a bag that does not meet those limits will not be allowed in, and the policy does not offer anywhere to leave one, so leave backpacks and shopping at your hotel. A bag gauge settles any argument about size. Merchandise bought at the stadium on the day comes in a clear plastic bag that is allowed inside.

Glass, metal and hard plastic bottles are banned too. Clear, crushable plastic bottles of up to 500 ml are allowed without their tops, and you can fill them at free water stations inside. Large umbrellas are not permitted either.

Making a London Trip of It

Wembley also sells stadium tours through its official website, which is the place to check dates and prices. If you are in London for more than one event, our guides to getting to London Stadium in Stratford and to a night at The O2 cover two other big venues, both in east London. And for a day out between games, Windsor and Eton make an easy trip west of the city.

The short version: take the Jubilee or Metropolitan line to Wembley Park, or Chiltern Railways from Marylebone, carry a bag no bigger than a sheet of A4 paper, and give yourself time for the security checks.
